Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor is UNESCO World heritage site. During the Middle Ages, the natural port of Kotor was an important center, artistic and commercial. The earthquake of 1979 damaged seriously a large number of monuments, including four Romanesque churches and city walls, largely restored with the help of UNESCO.
