History

Genoa is a city that stands out for its strong character, in times of invasion the city has always been able to gain strength and fight for its independence and in the Middle Ages the Republic of Genoa was born and lasted for eight centuries. In 1800 it was forced to annex itself to the Napoleonic empire, and later in 1814, it was occupied by the English navy, who formed a provisional government here. In the mid-1800s it was besieged by the troops of the Savoy.
