The port of Pantelleria consists of two main areas and it is about 6 meters in depth. The strong and frequent winds can make it difficult to dock on the island and the reason behind the name given to the island by the Arabs who called it the 'Daughter of the Wind'.  The old port is located in the area in front of the town, bordered by the Molo a Levante and the Molo Nasi.
