If you are looking for a holiday full of beauty, good food, nature and breathtaking beaches, then Sicily is the destination for you!  It is difficult to not to fall in love with this island because it is so rich in history and culture, but it also has beautiful landscapes and crystal clear sea.  In this post, Netferry gives you the lowdown on five brilliant beaches in Sicily!

Firstly, the elegant town of Taormina which also has great beaches, one of the best is Isola Bella. Isola Bella is, as its name suggests, is a real beauty, to access the beach just look for the long staircase that takes you down to the narrow, pebbly shore. The beach is just waiting for you to dive into the transparent waters! It can be a bit crowded and has pebbles and rocks, so we advise that you take some rubber souled rock shoes. You will be captivated by the colour of the water at Isola Bella it goes from deep blue to crystalline green.

Next, we travel to the other coast on the western side of the island, to the Zingaro Reserve. This beach is inside the reserve so it has a wonderful backdrop and beautiful colours. Every day many tourists flock here and its sometimes difficult to find a spot, but get there early and it will be worth it! Don’t forget to take your snorkelling gear so you can discover the many varieties of colourful fish there.

Near Agrigento and Porto Empedocle there is another fascinating beach is Scala dei Turchi. This place is rich in history as there were many Saracen raids here so the beach played an important role in the past. The beach is surrounded by an impressive natural spectacle, beautiful white cliffs that descend into the sea.

In the province of Ragusa, Sampieri beach is ideal for divers, because the seabed here is really rich in fish, so you can enjoy getting up close to learn about the different colours and shapes. There is a wonderful view of the Faraglioni, the cliffs and coves from the shoreline and it looks even more impressive at sunset.

Calamosche, is the most famous beach on the Vendicari Reserve and is better known by the locals as Funni Musca. The beach is set in a beautiful sandy cove located between two rocky headlands, so is therefore very sheltered and the water is nice and calm. The beach is surrounded by vegetation and it is a perfect place to spend a pleasant day at the beach.
