Guide of Palma

Majorca is the largest island in the Balearics and the capital, Palma de Mallorca, located in a bay. It is considered one of the most beautiful historical centres in the Mediterranean. The oldest remains found on the Island date back to 5200 BC. and there are also Greek, Phoenician and Carthaginian remains to explore. After several attempts to settle and create two colonies called Palma and Pollentia the Romans succeeded. The greatest economic resource on the island is tourism and the production of artificial pearls.

Places to visit

In Palma do not miss The Cathedral of Santa Maria, called La Seu, it is a majestic Gothic building facing the sea. The Almudaina Palace, which is the residence of the Spanish royal family and the gothic Episcopal palace are two examples of magisterial Majorcan architecture. Avenues and gardens frame this beautiful city, with benches and flower markets that invite you to stroll around and take in the atmosphere.

Beaches

Playa de Palma is not to be missed, it is very close to the capital and very busy. The Magaluf coast is a bit quieter but still has many bars and restaurants. Playa de Alcudia has beautiful white sand and Playa del Mago has crystal clear waters and is a nudist beach. There are also many coves and virgin beaches with crystal clear water to discover.
