The island of Giglio in the Tuscan Archipelago, has a natural port on the eastern side, called Giglio Porto. This is an ancient town and the first place where people settled on the island and it dates back to Roman times. There is some evidence that at that time there was a 120 granite pier that served the Roman Navy in that period.
