The port of Sitia is located on the east coast of the island of Crete. The port is dominated by the Venetian fortress and a lighthouse that is also visible from the west. The port provides many services for incoming tourists, such as restaurants, taverns, souvenir shops and a tourist information center. The port is well-protected from winds and can accommodate private boats, passenger ferries, small fishing boats and even cargo transporters.
The port is well connected to Athens, Rhodes and Karpathos. I you arrive into Heraklion by plane then there is a bus to the port. By car, take the national road E75, which runs along the north coast. In Sitia there is an airport that is about a kilometer from the town center, but no public transport links to the port, instead there is a taxi service.
