Port of KLAIPEDA
Klaipėda is Latvia's biggest and busiest port as well as its northernmost ice-free port on the eastern Baltic coast. There are international ferry connections from the Central Port to Scandinavia and Germany. The Central Port is located about half an hour’s walk from the old town. The ferry terminal has taxi ranks, internet, souvenir shops, bars and restaurants. An additional terminal was added in 2014 to attract more cruise ships and develop the tourism industry. There are also local ferries travelling to Smiltynė on the other side of the water, departing from the Old ferry Terminal and New Ferry Terminal.
Getting to and from the central ferry terminal
For foot passengers, there are local buses (numbers 1 and 12) leaving from the ferry terminal to the city centre, but it is easiest to walk. If you have a car then just follow map instructions to the port and there are places to park upon your arrival. Palanga International Airport (PLQ IATA) is the closest and travels to various destinations including Copenhagen, Riga and London.
